ABOUT TYLA

The Psych Assessment Studio was founded by Tyla Stroebel, a Psychologist with AHPRA and a full member of the APS and AAPI.

​

Originally from South Africa, Tyla enjoys working with clients from all different cultures and prides herself on being able to build incredible rapport with the families she assists. She holds degrees in counselling, criminology and psychology and completed her Masters degree, before qualifying as a professional in the field of psychology. She further has lived experience as an ADHDer. 

 

Tyla has a love and passion for neuro and developmental psychology and came to focus on psychometric and diagnostic assessments. She has extensive experience and training in the field of ADHD, Autism, developmental difficulties and distress behaviours. She further has a keen interest in ADHD and Autism, specifically in young girls and woman and those traits and presentations that fly under the radar. She is a registered behaviour specialist with the NDIS and is passionate in advocating for the mindset change from positive behavioural support to accommodation changes and understanding the functions of behaviours from an affirming paradigm. 

 

Tyla holds further certifications in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (and adapts this to include accommodations for neurodivergence) , Neuropsychology and Play Therapy and works from a child-led paradigm in all respects. Tyla worked as the clinical and assessment manager at the Mind & Behaviour Clinic in Bankstown for many years and at Kids Health Space Paediatric Clinic in Oran Park and still has a collaborate relationship with both clinics.

 

Tyla has experience supervising Masters and Honours psychology students, designing and running training and workshops and lecturing for the Australian College of Applied Professions. She further prides herself on working from, and in learning to constantly improve in, a neurodiversity affirming framework and empowers parents, teachers and other professionals to do the same.  She is able to assess via telehealth or in person, in whatever space makes you feel comfortable (pyjamas's, coffee and cats via telehealth welcome (and encouraged) - no judgement!

 

In her spare time, Tyla drinks coffee, spends time at the beach and attempts to keep her two young daughters out of trouble.

ABOUT JESS

Jess is a registered counsellor with a commitment to supporting neurodivergent individuals on their journey to self-discovery, acceptance and understanding.

 

With degrees in counselling and psychology, including a recent Master of Science in Psychology, Jess brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a counsellor. Her passion lies in working with individuals across diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures, offering a space where neurodivergent individuals can explore their unique strengths and challenges.

 

Jess employs a strengths-based approach to counselling and support, focusing on empowering her clients to thrive despite their challenges. She understands the importance of creating a non-judgmental environment where individuals can freely express themselves and navigate their personal experiences with ADHD and Autism.

 

Jess offers telehealth sessions after-hours (between 2pm and 8pm) to accommodate the needs of her adolescent and adult clients. 

 

In her spare time, Jess enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.

ABOUT LISA

​

Lisa is a Registered Psychologist, certified by AHPRA and a Member of the APS. Lisa holds an undergraduate and Master’s degree in psychology.

 

Lisa is passionate about assisting clients of all ages to reach their potential by focusing on individual areas of strength, embracing their

uniqueness, and helping them take active steps to improve overall well-being. Lisa assists young children, parents, and adult clients.

 

Lisa works within a neurodiversity-affirming framework, which focuses on

the natural variation of the human experience, utilising assessments, counselling and play to assist clients in gaining positive outcomes.

 

Lisa brings an empathic and encouraging framework to working with clients. Using a person-centred, non-judgmental approach, she believes in building a strong rapport to support and empower clients.

 

Lisa has certification in the principles and practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She also uses the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques to help clients achieve their goals and make rewarding changes in their lives. She is passionate about adapting these practices for neurodivergent minds. Furthermore, she utilises play therapy in her work with children. Lisa is also able to complete assessments.

 

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, practising Yoga, and spending time in nature.
