Functional Behavioural Assessment:
​An affirming Functional Behavioural Assessment (FBA) is a supportive process that seeks to understand the why behind behaviours in a respectful, neurodiversity-affirming way. Rather than viewing behaviours as problems, it recognises them as communication and responses to the environment. This approach is strengths-based, collaborative, and holistic - considering factors like sensory needs, executive functioning, and mental health, while involving families and support teams. The goal is to reduce distress, remove barriers, and create practical strategies that build on the individual’s strengths so they can feel understood and thrive.

Functional Capacity Assessment:
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive evaluation that explores how an individual manages daily life across areas such as self-care, communication, social interaction, learning, and community participation. It is strengths-based and affirming, highlighting what a person can do, while also identifying areas where extra support, adjustments, or services may be needed. An FCA is often used for NDIS or other funding applications, or to review a diagnostic level, as it provides clear evidence of support needs and practical recommendations to help the person build independence, access opportunities, and thrive in their environment.
